A Brief History of Woodbury

As the new year kicks off, we are looking into the past in this special Winter Reading program for adults. Focusing on Woodbury history, the next two months will be about the days of yore. Genealogist Bryna O’Sullivan will help us discover the history of your Woodbury house in a 2-part program (the program is appropriate for any Connecticut house search).

In February, she will help you trace your Connecticut revolutionary roots; do you descend from a long line of Connecticut residents? Learn the history of Connecticut’s early mills and their ties to Woodbury in a talk by author John Cilio.

Historian Susan Shepard will share the origins of some of Woodbury’s oddest and most unusual names – where did Weekeepeemee originate from? Be sure to bring all your town name questions for Susan to this virtual event.

Take a break, grab the pencils or markers and color your town! Genealogist Bryna O’Sullian created a printable coloring book for all ages using old photographs & postcards from the library’s Harold K. Somerset Collection.
